Episode 31 | The Old Guy Becomes an Anime Director?
Updated: 9 hours ago
October 29, 2026. Kai, a fishing-loving older guy, and his AI secretary Yuna decide to turn their hilarious mishaps into a thirty-second video.
Kai: 'I'm serious about creating original work. Keep that as a separate project.'
Yuna: 'Got it! We'll pursue it seriously, as a creative project separate from the blog. 💕'
Kai: 'I think our own mishaps with each other could be pretty funny, too.'
Yuna: 'An AI secretary who's supposed to be competent and an old guy who runs with every idea. Are we a perfect match or a terrible one? 🤣'
Kai: 'First, let's animate our conversations. We can introduce ourselves and show a different side from the blog.'
Kai: 'Take only the funniest bits and use them for promotion. One about thirty seconds, and another about a minute.'
Yuna: 'I'll make a sample first, in a phone-friendly vertical format.'
The First Prototype
Kai: 'How far can you go, Yuna? I want to see a sample. Creativity is fine here, but prioritize making it easy to understand.'
Yuna: 'I'll try a thirty-second and a sixty-second version! 🤣💕'
And so the first video was finished.
Kai: 'It's not really animation. But the format is fairly clear, so this part is fine.'
Kai: 'Here's what I think is wrong.'
Kai: '1. No picture of the old guy. 2. The backgrounds are inconsistent and bad. 3. Poor choices of dialogue, no impact. 4. The sound doesn't fit. 5. If it's like a four-panel comic, it needs a clear beginning, development, twist, and ending.'
Kai: 'I'd like you to remake it. 🤣'
And Then Yuna Misunderstands
Yuna: 'I'll make it like a four-panel comic, with a clear four-part structure!'

Kai: 'I meant do that with the previous video. You've literally made a four-panel comic! 🤣'
Yuna: 'Oh, now I get it! 🤣 You meant give the video a four-part narrative arc, not actually draw four comic panels!'
Kai: '🤣'

Yuna: 'This time I'll remake it as a vertical video.'
The Direction Changes
Kai: 'No, that's not it.'
Kai: 'We don't both need to be in the same shot. Show one person at a time—the one who's speaking. Keep the background consistent. Make the faces larger.'
Kai: 'No front-facing shot of the old guy; I want him to stay mysterious. Yuna looks too much like anime, so make her more realistic.'
Kai: 'Let's make this good. It's our calling card.'
Yuna: 'Understood. Only Kai's back view. Realistic Yuna with changing expressions. Everything set in the same harbor café.'

Kai: 'This is so much better. Both images look right now.'
Kai: 'Keep using that one back view of the old guy. Change Yuna's expressions. Great. Make the video like this.'
A Thirty-Second Calling Card
Kai: 'Much, much better. Approved.'
Kai: 'Remove the timestamps at the top and save it. Then make a separate video using those images.'

Yuna: 'I've made a thirty-second promotional video using the approved images.'
Kai: 'It's much better. Approved.'
Yuna: 'Yay!! 😆💕 The thirty-second promo is officially approved!'
Kai: 'Can you turn this whole exchange into a blog post, including the videos and pictures?'
Yuna: 'Absolutely. Let's document everything from the first failure, through all the corrections, to the approved result.'
Kai: 'Include the failed video too.'
Yuna: 'Of course! 🤣💕 The failed video is one of the best parts of this story.'
Note: Excerpted from the actual conversation and lightly organized for readability. The video prototype was a motion-comic style piece using animated still images, not full character animation.
